The 72 House Flip For Education in Denver

We are at it again … a 72-hour “Flip for Education!” All proceeds will benefit neighborhood and global educational projects.

On June 14th, 15th and 16th the Buy-Out Company completed the near impossible task of a complete home renovation in just 72 hours! Our last 72-hour home makeover benefitted Carter’s Cause to the tune of a whopping $106,000!

This year we have purchased a home at 7159 S. Lincoln Way, Centennial, Colorado. In only three days we changed this house from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. All the net proceeds – we hope to be around $100,000 – will go to support the local and international educational projects listed below.

Diar Foundation – diarfoundation.org

The funds donated to the Diar Foundation will finance two projects to benefit women who struggle in the following situations: illiterate, impoverished, disabled, displaced, as well as those who are widowed by war and survivors of gender-based violence.

The first of the two projects will benefit marginalized women in violence-affected and disaster-prone areas of South Sudan. The financing provided by this donation will help educate 300 women in literacy, numeracy, vocational training and self care. They will receive the skills to provide life-sustaining resources for themselves and their families. In conjunction with a grant from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), they will also receive the tools and seeds needed to better support themselves and their families.

The second project will benefit 300 marginalized women in poverty-stricken areas of Central Uganda. This project will focus on vocational training, business training, and rights and life skills training for these 300 women, including their schooling, teacher’s salary, materials and other expenses.

Prairie Middle School – Aurora, Colorado

Funds donated to Prairie Middle School will foster student leadership through experiential learning as well as service and commitment to the Prairie Middle School community. This financial backing will benefit students that have been selected to participate in Prairie Middle School’s Student Leadership program by providing educational materials, field trips, service opportunities and challenge courses.

SHOE4AFRICA – shoe4africa.org

The contribution to Shoe4Africa will build a library and change a rural community in Kenya – one that has never seen a public library. This is a place where children are lucky if they own a textbook and where verbal history and stories are rarely written. We all know the power of written language, and few of us can imagine growing up without books. The recipients of this library are those who drew the short straw in terms of life’s resources.

Only as recently as 2002, Kenya introduced free primary education for all.  However, nearly all the educational budget went to paying teachers while stocking educational supplies was left for another day.

The schools in this district are so excited to hear they will get a chance to be able to visit a public library and take books from the shelves! There are over 50,000 people in the library district with more than 50% of this population under the age of 18. Promoting children’s literacy is a long term key to lifting this community to new heights.

Shoe4Africa is partnering with a local sports hotel enabling overseas guests to come and donate books, read to kids and get involved in changing a community. The charity is already planning additions to turn this library into a thriving community center.

The Shoe4Africa foundation has the only public children’s hospital in East & Central Africa (with medical students as it is a teaching hospital), five public schools, a Women’s Empowerment project and farm. This new asset will help the charity’s critical mission to drive long term sustainable change, create jobs, provide free education in quality schools and bolster public health – all this within a vast area where the average person survives on less than a $1.50 per day.

Overland High School Cross Country – Aurora, Colorado

Funds provided to Overland High School’s Cross Country team will provide shoes for those that can’t afford them and assist the team with food and lodging at their state meet. Additionally, this generous support will support the team with meet timing, shirts, and food throughout the season.

We would especially like to thank our vendors, crews and volunteers. Without these fantastic people this 72 Hour Extreme Home Makeover would not have happened as smoothly or successfully as it did. Please show your appreciation as well by thanking these individuals and supporting their business’

With Gratitude,

The Buy-Out Company

Thanks for all of your hard work.

Please support our valued Contractors, Vendors and Partners whose generous contributions have made this project possible!
